My love for travel started from when I was a little girl visiting my mom's family in Ecuador. It was incredible to see how life was so different from what I was used to in the U.S. As a teenager, I explored a love of languages and picked up Spanish, French, and Italian. This came in handy as I started to travel the world. Besides annual trips to Ecuador, in college I started to explore Europe through a 5 week trip when I visited 10+ countries.
Years later, I would fulfill a lifelong dream of living in Europe as I got my MBA at IESE Business School in Barcelona. Before I started, I took time off work and embarked on a mini trip around the world for 3 months. I went tango dancing in Buenos Aires, did a yoga retreat in Bali, and chased lemurs in Madagascar. When I moved to Barcelona, I quickly became enveloped in Spanish life and enjoyed going out to tapas bars and dancing at clubs until 6am.
During the program I began to explore my spiritual side and went on a trip to Rishikesh, India, the world capital of yoga. Here I went on a 10 day vipassana meditation retreat where I woke up at 4am everyday, took showers with a bucket, and meditated for 10 hours a day. Towards the end of the retreat I experienced a moment of complete peace and bliss.
As I adjusted back to normal life, I took a bit of that peace with me. I went to Nairobi for 2 weeks for an MBA program at the beginning of 2020 and went on multiple safaris. Then I headed back to Barcelona for about a month until the COVID pandemic hit. Since then, my home base has been Boston and I am cautiously starting to travel again since I am vaccinated. I had the opportunity to do an amazing 1 month "workation" in Mexico City with Remote Year. I am trying out the digital nomad lifestyle to see if it's for me. One of my life goals is to do a year long round the world trip!
